How ConfidFit handles photos, merchant data, and try-on processing for Shopify stores.
Who we are
ConfidFit is a Shopify app for apparel virtual try-on and related merchant tools. Merchants install it on their Shopify store so shoppers can preview clothing on a photo, and so merchants can use setup, usage, and analytics tools in the admin.
Shopper photos
When a shopper uses try-on, they upload a photo so we can generate a visual preview of a product on that photo. We use the photo only for that preview purpose. We do not train machine learning models on shopper photos.
Merchants may offer optional download or share controls on the result step. If the shopper uses those controls, a copy of the preview can leave our short retention window and live on their device or in apps they choose. That is the shopper's choice, not a ConfidFit gallery.
Sub-processors
Try-on image processing runs through YouCam, operated by Perfect Corp. Photos are sent on that processing path so the preview can be generated. Perfect Corp may hold processing data under their own retention and privacy terms; our app clears shopper photo and result image fields from our records after a short default window (about 2 hours).
Retention
Shopper photos and try-on result images are kept only briefly for the preview, then cleared from our records. Default retention is about 2 hours for those binary fields.
Non-face task metadata and analytics events may be kept longer for metering, quality, and cohort proof.
Merchant and Shopify app data
For merchants we process shop domain and install session data, product enablement settings, usage and billing metadata, and try-on task metadata such as status, error codes, and product identifiers. After scrub, we do not keep face image binaries for those tasks.
Storefront analytics
We record visit-scoped storefront events used for cohort proof, such as visit identifiers, try-on exposure, and add-to-cart or order linkage when present. These analytics events are not face images.
Visitor limits and bot checks
To protect merchant usage budgets and processing cost, we apply daily preview limits per storefront visitor. We store a durable browser cookie named fc_vid (a random identifier, not your name) and may store a one-way hash of your network address with the shop when a cookie is unavailable. These keys are used only for fair-use counters and related abuse controls. They are not face images.
When traffic looks automated, the storefront may ask you to complete a short human check (for example Cloudflare Turnstile) before another preview starts. The human check does not use shopper photos.
How we use data
We use this data to provide the ConfidFit service: try-on previews, merchant setup tools, metering, billing, quality, fair-use limits, bot checks, and analytics. We do not sell shopper photos or faces as a dataset.
No merchant face gallery
Merchants cannot browse customer faces or try-on results as a gallery in ConfidFit.
Logs and security
Application logs keep metadata and error codes, not raw photo bytes. YouCam and Shopify secrets stay on the server and are not exposed in the theme or browser.
Rights and contact
Shoppers who have privacy questions should contact the merchant store where they used try-on. Merchants can use Settings → Support for product help (email or the in-admin form).
