What Zara's AI try-on actually is
Published 16 August 2026
Zara Try-on is a feature inside the Zara app. Press coverage of Inditex described it as an avatar built from a face photo and a full-body photo, then dressed in Zara products. It is not a Shopify app, and ConfidFit is not affiliated with Zara.
What people are searching for
“Zara AI try on” is a consumer query. People saw a headline, a TikTok, or a button in the Zara app and want to know what they clicked. They are not, in most cases, shopping for a Shopify app.
This page exists so that query has an honest answer on our site, plus a clear line between Zara’s closed app and what an independent fashion store can install.
What press described Zara Try-on as
In 2026, coverage of Inditex results and the Zara app (Evening Standard, Retail Week, City A.M., and others) described a feature called Zara Try-on. The common sketch: upload a face photo and a full-body photo, wait while the app builds an avatar, then see that avatar wearing Zara pieces, sometimes turning or walking.
Those outlets also reported a generative-AI notice in the app: the images may not match reality. That disclaimer is the part worth stealing. A preview that does not admit it is generated will train the wrong expectation.
Inditex and the press have published session and market counts. Those are their numbers. We are not going to repeat them as if we measured them.
Avatar try-on is not the same as live AR
Zara’s public writeups point at a generated avatar, not a live camera overlay on your actual room. That sits closer to photo/avatar try-on than to glasses-style AR.
If you want the category split, read photo try-on vs AR. If you want the generic definition, read what a virtual fitting room is.
What a Shopify store can run instead
You cannot install Zara Try-on on your Shopify theme. It lives in Zara’s app, on Zara’s catalog.
A mid-market fashion store on Shopify can add photo try-on on the product page: shopper photo, garment you enabled, composite, honesty line. That is what ConfidFit does. It will not build Zara’s walking avatar, and we will not pretend it does.
What this page is not
This is not a Zara partnership announcement. We have none.
This is not a “Zara vs ConfidFit” scoreboard. We do not have their conversion data and we will not invent it.
This is not a how-to for getting the Zara button if you are a shopper. Open the Zara app and their own help for that.
Common questions
Is Zara try-on a Shopify app?
No. Press described it as a feature inside the Zara mobile app. It is not something you install from the Shopify App Store.
Is Zara try-on AR?
The public descriptions are avatar-from-photos, not a live room overlay. Treat it as generated try-on unless Zara says otherwise in their own product copy.
Can my store get the same thing as Zara?
Not the Zara app feature. You can add photo try-on on your own Shopify product pages. The catalog, the avatar style, and the app chrome will not be Zara’s.
Is ConfidFit related to Zara?
No. ConfidFit is an independent Shopify app. We are not affiliated with Zara or Inditex.
